Who We Are

About Davis Staging

Our Mission

Home staging is not just decorating. At its core, it shapes a buyer’s first impression and carries that feeling through the home, supporting the moment when a buyer begins to think, this could be ours.

Davis Staging partners with real estate agents and homeowners to prepare homes for the market with a clear goal: help buyers understand the value of the property the moment they walk in. Our work is grounded in buyer psychology, spatial flow, and real-world market conditions, not trends or shortcuts.

We take a deliberate, full-scale approach to staging. Furniture is selected for proportion, balance, and how it supports the architecture of the home, not based on what happens to be sitting in a warehouse. Scale matters. Flow matters. What a buyer feels as they move from room to room matters.

Every staging plan is tailored to the home and the market it is entering. We focus on clarity, cohesion, and livability so buyers can easily imagine themselves there. The result is a presentation that feels natural, elevated, and credible, helping listings stand out for the right reasons.

Davis Staging provides professional home staging services throughout Yolo and Solano Counties, with select projects beyond.

Hello! I’m Christine

Founder & Principal

I’m Christine Mathias, founder, owner, and principal of Davis Staging. I’ve been staging homes for over 20 years, partnering with real estate agents and homeowners to prepare properties for market with a focus on buyer psychology, proportion, and presentation rather than trends.

I currently serve as Vice President of the International Association of Home Staging Professionals (IAHSP) and previously founded and served as president of the Sacramento chapter of the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA). My work has earned multiple industry awards, reflecting a long-standing commitment to thoughtful, market-aware staging that supports strong buyer response.

Before entering the staging industry, I trained and practiced as a physician. That background continues to inform my analytical, detail-oriented approach to staging and my focus on how buyers experience a home, not just how it looks.

Intensional Design and Thoughtful Scale to create Momentum that drives buyers.

VALUES

Collaboration

Staging works best when it is a true partnership. We collaborate closely with agents and homeowners to support pricing strategy, marketing goals, and timelines. Every decision is made with the shared objective of positioning the home to attract the right buyer and maximize perceived value.

Authenticity

Great staging does not disguise a home. It clarifies it. Our approach respects the architecture, scale, and character of each property, enhancing what is already there rather than forcing a look that does not belong. Buyers respond to spaces that feel honest, intentional, and livable.

Empowerment

Staging should make the selling process feel clearer, not more stressful. I guide clients through every step so they understand the why behind each choice. When homeowners and agents feel confident in the presentation, the home shows better, photographs stronger, and enters the market with momentum.

We don’t offer financing, but our partners at Notable Finance can allow you to tap into your equity to pay for staging and anything else related to your home sale. No hard credit inquiry, low rates! No…and in fact, we expect that you won’t be. We work best by being able to be in “the zone” and that requires us to be able to focus on the task at hand. Furthermore, we move fast and are coming and going with bulky, heavy items; maneuvering around others not in our crew runs the risk of injuries or damage.

It might feel weird to you at first, but all staging decisions are at our discretion. Staging isn’t the same as interior design; we are making our selections for the buyer, not for the seller. Trust us as the staging professionals to know what your home needs to sell as fast as possible for the highest price.

Yes, it often is! We are constantly rotating our inventory and selling our inventory is a wonderful way to accomplish this. We love when our “working pieces” get to retire and be enjoyed by a family in their home.

It isn’t necessary, but it’s ideal for many reasons. However, we totally understand it isn’t always possible. When you need to remain in your home while it is on the market, an occupied stage (where we bring in our inventory to supplement yours) or an occupied consult (where we spend a couple of hours in your home with you offering suggestions that you execute) are perfectly valid options.

Let’s Work Together

Selling a home is both a logistical and emotional process. I partner with agents and homeowners to create a presentation that feels calm, cohesive, and market-ready. The result is a home that photographs beautifully, shows confidently, and attracts the right buyer.
